AI Unplugged
Episode one sixty two. The ten year anniversary show. It has been ten years since I started this podcast and my content creation business and I have never been more excited for where it is headed. So welcome to this very special Mike Murphy Unplugged. I am your host, Mike Murphy, and with you today, recording this episode in year number ten. I mean, I should be over five is counting in this episode? The story behind ten years of pivot into AI. Why? I went from Adobe tutorials to transition really was. My current AI deep dives, my evolution from podcast handyman to tech handyman to now rag handyman. And what is next? My AI roadmap. The beginning. Let's head back to September of I'm sitting at my desk in my old beach cottage, absolutely overwhelmed by all of the tech knowledge bouncing around in my head. Years of creative work, Adobe podcasts, and more online person should consume. I had this burning desire to put myself out there, but I I loved podcasts, so I said, why I gave myself less than thirty days to figure out how to launch a podcast, how to record and edit in Adobe Audition, and without a clue of what I was doing. I published episode number one was one of the proudest moments I did not expect it to be easy, episode every single week. I would write these massive scripts that I would record word doing right now. I started by teaching podcasting struggles of building an online I made it to one hundred and before I hit the wall, and Now, I am a stickler for give up or fail. But it was really taking a toll full time in a podcast startup, podcast, by the way. This show also got me to write a book, Land me a course deal with Domestika. Mastika. It introduced me to a ton of and creator world. But as soon as the podcast of a burden than something that take a break. But one thing was for certain I I was just putting it on a The content creation machine. As soon as I publish episode number one, I committed myself to being a content creator and tutorial maker. So while the podcast was my workshop and priority. If I learned something useful, I tutorial on the spot. And this simple formula has hundred videos currently Over these ten years. And boy did those early But I worked really hard on my short, clear and concise tutorial style. And in twenty seventeen I sixty five videos in a row, I also wrote hundreds of my content creator trifecta of And when anyone asked me what I did, I just said I was a tech handyman because I was pretty much an octopus, dabbling in every tech nook and cranny I could find. Then the future came a knocking While I have been creating content consistently about tech and creativity for ten years plus, I've never been more excited about where tech is heading than I am right now with AI. But making this transition from AI content, I've definitely Is this the right move? Picture this you've spent a expects things like Adobe After suddenly you want to start vibe coding and cloud code and Rag. Who is this person? The algorithm doesn't know what Your audience is confused, but deep down you know this is the future and you cannot not go all in. That's exactly what happened to me in about two thousand and twenty four. I made the scary decision to there was a possibility it might The good news? So far, so good. Growth is still slow as it's headed in the right direction. Just passed forty thousand subscribers and I am not stopping until I get that one hundred thousand silver play button. My AI deep dive. Over the past year and a half I I swear my best friends are I take daily walks where I use voice mode to brainstorm and learn. Mixing in AI concepts with what's probably too much personal therapy. I am going to be really AI tools eventually leak all of approach that I am taking, I am shiny AI tools, I am going deep I am learning Python from scratch, spending hours in Mac OS terminal, feeling like a hacker. And I've even got my own virtual private server, which has become my AI playground for building automation workflows. The area of AI that is completely captured my imagination. Rag systems are the game changer for content creators, businesses, and pretty much everyone who's going to be using AI. What is rag? Well, Rag stands for retrieval Think of it as building a You take all of your content, transcript, every YouTube video, it into a database. Then you ask questions just like AI searches through your content So I might ask, hey AI, what are my top five performing After Effects tutorials from twenty twenty four? Or generate ten new video ideas based on my most popular content themes. It's like having a brilliant sleeps and knows everything you I mean, how cool is that? There are a million ways to am learning all of them because Mike Murphy Content Factory. That's my North Star with rag as Which leads me to my next I know it sounds a little weird, but, you know, I have always been a bit of a jack of all trades. I started by calling myself a a wide skill set, and I'm a So basically, I was like, all I'll figure out how to fix it. Next, I became the podcast handyman when I was deep in the podcast world. When I moved into AI, well, I took on the AI handyman role, but I'm turning into an adult and I'm settling on something more specific. The rag handyman for content My mission is taking complex AI understand and practical to I'm just practicing my branding. But think of Rag as that hard sleeps, never takes a vacation, and your business. Imagine having a system that can generate new content ideas that build perfectly on your existing work. Create course outlines that Draft video scripts and maintain Answer your audience's questions Repurpose your content across multiple formats seamlessly and help you find patterns in your content that you have never noticed and even in your personal life. Now, don't you think everyone needs a rag handyman in their life? My AI content roadmap. So where do I go from here?
